EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
Freedom is one of the most powerful doors we can walk through in our life. And it is a door to open that many people don’t ever truly get to experience first-hand. Yes, we can have a relationship with our Lord but I have learned that it is not possible to discover “true freedom” without a process and a daily walking relationship with Christ our Lord.
When we are tied to our past, we will have continuous regrets and fully hang on to past addictions, sin, or even abuse. God does not want that for us. Jesus came to set us free from that.
When we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, we have eternity with Christ. We are no longer facing a death sentence that is final in hell. But in other words, we are free; we truly are—it’s a day-to-day learning of how free we really are from our past! It took me years to learn this.
In my past, even though I knew Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I was learning the layers upon layers of my true freedom. When I began to write over 15 years ago, I discovered that healing came each time I was able to be open and honest and share parts of my story for the glory of God. It brought healing. Then came more and more freedom each time I shared.
Healing comes when we are honest with a safe and trustworthy place to share our feelings. I believed God called me to share my story in hopes it would help others, so I shared in a safe place, our group. I was able to do this in Women World Leaders. I wrote to help other women who were hurting just as I used to hurt. I let them know they were not alone in their brokenness and delivered the hope God brought to me in the light of Christ my Savior.
Freedom came the more I shared about how God set me free from my past. I shared, and then wrote more and more revealing all the brutal life lessons l learned. I became obedient to God and His Word as He taught me through scripture each time I used it in my stories and yes, He truly freed me each time.
James 5:16 says, “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has Great-Power and produces wonderful results.”
I am happy to say as I wrote different stories of my life and shared some of the troubling situations that I went through, it was like literally flinging a door of opportunity open to provide freedom.
Although sometimes situations appear to lack hope when we first start off reading someone else’s story, freedom steps in when we see how God moves both in and through their lives. One step at a time with God allows freedom in the healing. It doesn’t always happen instantaneously, but God moves with us when we are ready.
Anyone can have freedom in Jesus. His truth will set us free. It is important we never miss an opportunity to tell people about what God has done for us in our story even when its ugly and difficult. God will be with you and He will speak over your life. Your past no longer defines who you are, please remember that. It is in these opportunities that we get to praise God and share what freedom He offers.
